new-in-town.de – Internet contact exchange tested and compared
Overall impression: [Rating:95/100]
www.new-in-town.de is a classic Internet contact exchange that, in contrast to other offers, is not intended to find a partner for life or for bed, but rather to make contact with (new) people of your own city for joint activities.
So that black sheep don't have a chance there and you as a user are not immediately forced to reveal your email address, you choose a short nickname, get a password and can use it to access the new-in-town server exchange emails using his nickname.
But before the first emails arrive, it is first important to make yourself interesting to other users. This takes the form of a short profile that you can fill out as you wish. They ask about personal style, age, place of residence and whether you have a partner or are single. Then you can specify as many hobbies as you like (e.g. “meeting friends”, “visiting pubs and beer gardens”, “fitness training” and if necessary also specify your level of ability (e.g. whether you are a soccer professional or a soccer beginner). And with that The path to your new friends is already clear.
And how exactly can you meet new people now?
There are two options for “new-in-town”. Option a) - incidentally the more promising one - is called “pinboard” and is nothing more than a virtual message board. Here you can search for other people in your postcode area who have immortalized themselves there with short advertisements or who have posted advertisements themselves. If you click on the nickname of the person in question, the profile you created at the beginning is displayed, but if you select the “Email” button, an email form opens and you can begin contacting them.
Every user has their own mailbox via new-in-town.de, where the messages arrive. If this is the case, a message comes to the “real” email address: “You have received a new message,” and you can log in to new-in-town.de, go to your mailbox there and read the message. If you like, you can give the corresponding user their normal email address or leave it alone - depending on what the first impression is.
Option b) to get to other people can be found in a function called “Search User”. Here you are sorted according to the hobbies you have specified, e.g. cinema. One click and all new-in-town users from the surrounding area who have stated the same hobby are listed - clearly sorted according to the distance to their own place of residence. For this reason, it is important to specify districts (e.g. Schwabing) for a city like Munich. This ensures that the spatial proximity is actually present.
It should also be mentioned in passing that new-in-town can also do a few more things. Among other things, an event manager is planned in which you can enter events and then find participants - however, the portal is still under construction and so this function does not work properly yet. The promised forum has not yet been set up either. What bothers me a bit is the fact that when searching for users you can only sort by interests and not search for the names of individual users. However, new-in-town has announced that things will change in the near future.
The layout of the offer also leaves a bit to be desired. But since the rest was really convincing, that can be generously overlooked.

I like the idea! I once registered on a dating site just because I was new in town and wanted to meet new people.
